Submissions

We greatly appreciate all submissions and we do accept unsolicited manuscripts. However, we would appreciate it if you would send us manuscripts only pertaining to the guidelines listed below.
We would recommend, as always, to be professional and edit your manuscript to the fullest extent of your abilities before submitting it. We do not accept hardcopy submissions, but this does not mean we wouldn't prefer to have the manuscript text formatted to customary submission standards. We accept .rtf, .doc, .odt files only. No PDF files whatsoever.
Once we receive your submission we will send you a confirmation email and then you can expect a response, either to accept or decline publication, within 4-6 months. We do not care if you submit your manuscript to other publishers, so long as you report the publication status of your work the moment said status changes.
Our goal here at Speir Publishing is to publish meaningful works of art, based loosely around the Texas/New Mexico/Mexico regions and cultures residing therein. This isn't to say we won't examine manuscripts set in other regions--if in doubt, send us a synopsis before actually submitting--but our main point of interest is in those areas. We do love fiction as well as non fiction, but there has to be a greater purpose in the work, a meaning of some sort that is clear and well-defined throughout the work.
We do not accept romance, fantasy, science fiction, occult or overtly religious, or fan fiction. With that said, I can see some fiction bordering fantasy or science fiction falling within our range of interests. Again, if in doubt, simply send us a synopsis of the book and we'll decide whether we would be interested in reviewing the manuscript or not.
If you feel you have something we would be interested in reviewing, we would prefer you send us a synopsis before the manuscript. Email us at:

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Speir Publishing author. We look forward to working with you.
